Episode Description
Ricky has found a survey that suggests Mancunians take more sick days off much to the manc’s annoyance. Karl doesn’t believe in sexy songs to set the mood and would much prefer to stick on a late night channel 5 film.
Steve is dubious about an anti-smoking ad he saw on TV and they recall old public ads aimed at kids. Karl remembers an abduction prank he played in his childhood.
Karl has some dubious facts about Mount Everest and inquires about cryogenics. He also gives his views on cities around the world and talks about monkeys in the army.
Ricky: Have you been to New York?
Karl: Yeah.
Ricky: What do you think, its an amazing city innit?
Karl: Didn't like it, it's just noisy, smelly.
Ricky: Right it's the city that never sleeps.
Karl: Well, I'm not surprised with all the racket n' that.
Ricky: (laughs) Paris, the city of love, the most romantic city in the world.
Karl: Not really, I remember seeing an old woman in McDonalds and it put me off, that's where that thing happened.
Ricky: What? Well tell us.
Karl: We talked about it before, the old woman in McDonalds.
Ricky: Yeah, what happened?
Karl: She was sat in the corner there with her legs open no knickers on, right.
Ricky: (laughs out loud) Oh God! Did that put you off your cheeseburger?
Karl: That's Paris, next city, where next?
Ricky: Have you been to, I dunno, oh the most beautiful city, Venice?
Karl: Yeah I've been there yeah.
Ricky: Good?
Karl: No.
Ricky: Why?
Karl: Coz they sell it to you like it is a romantic city.
Ricky: Where did you see it sold?
Karl: I saw it on, when I was growing up, remember 3-2-1 with Ted Rogers?
Ricky: Yeah, of course, and Dusty Bin.
Karl: It was one of the star prizes on there.
Ricky: Right.
Karl: And they'd say "let's show you the video, let's see where your going to, let's see where you're gonna be lovin it for a couple of weeks".
Ricky: Yeah.
Karl: And they'd show you this scene with like the gondolas and all the city lit up at night, like a man and a woman sat in a boat lovin it n' stuff.
Ricky: Yeah.
Karl: I went there, bin bags everywhere.
Ricky: (laughs out loud)
Karl: It was a mess, it's London flooded.
Ricky: Play a record, play a record, that was 'Wish You Were Here' with Karl Pilkington.
